Frequently Asked Question
The Poser installer has the option to uninstall the Poser app and associated files but it doesn't completely remove 3rd party plugins or other add-ons in the Poser root directory nor does it remove the main Poser content directory. This safeguards the user who are updating to a newer build revision/update without losing their plugins, add-ons or content. If you want to achieve the most complete uninstall there are a some things to achieve this:
1. On Windows, open up Programs/Programs and Features Uninstall a program from the Control Panel. Locate Poser and uninstall.
2. Once the uninstall is complete, open File Explorer and enter this path in the address bar.
C:\Program Files\Poser Software\
3. Look for a Poser 11 folder in that location. If it is, there might be residual 3rd party plugin or add-ons files left there. You might just want to move the folder to a different location like your desktop if you want to keep those files or just delete the Poser 11 directory folder. It's up to you.
4. Again in File Explorer enter this path:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\
5. Look to see if there's a Poser 11 Content folder. If there is you can delete this too.
WARNING: This is where any content you've purchased will be stored. If you delete the content folders you will be deleting the purchased content files too.
6. There might be 3rd party or downloaded content files left there. You might just want to move the folder to a different location like your desktop if you want to keep those files or just delete the Poser 11 content folder.
7. The following to file locations are in folders that are normally hidden. They won't show in File Explorer until you enter the exact path in the Address Bar.
C:\ProgramData\Poser\11
This is where your S/N and registration DTA files are stored. If you delete these you will need to re-activate Poser when it's re-installed
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Poser\CrashDumps\
Crash reports are located here. No need to backup, they are large files you can just delete. This is just diagnostic data.
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Poser\
This is where your Poser preferences like linked content and interface layout are stored.
8. OPTIONAL: In your system Downloads folder there may be folders named PoserSoftware or Renderosity. These folders containing downloaded content zip files these will be content you've purchased for either of these stores.
